As the long-term inequity of reliable home-based internet access reached a new urgency in 2020, HCS EdConnect powered by EPB launched to support Hamilton County Schools students. Alongside the launch of the initiative itself, partners undertook a three-year initial research study. An inter-disciplinary team from Boston College’s Lynch School of Education and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga helped project stakeholders better capture and analyze the formative and summative impacts of the broadband initiative. You can learn more at https://edconnect.bc.edu/, where the research team has hosted resources, instruments and data supporting and summarizing the empirical study of this community broadband initiative’s implementation and outcomes.

Results for America, a non-profit focused on helping decision-makers at all levels of government harness the power of evidence and data to solve challenges, featured HCS EdConnect powered by EPB in their Economic Mobility Catalog, which contains summaries of over 50 high-level strategies and nearly 200 specific practices and programs that have demonstrated positive results in rigorous evaluations.
